Somebody Somewhere has always stuck out on the HBO lineup — it used to air right after Succession and Barry — but now, HBO is ready to let that contrast go. The third season of the Peabody Award–winning bittersweet show that could will be its last. “It has been the greatest dream to bring this world to life, and to do it with HBO,” star Bridget Everett said in a statement. “Kansas Prairie–sized love and thanks to Amy, the entire HBO family, and to the most talented and caring cast and crew. The heart of Somebody Somewhere is friendship, and we will always hold dear the friendships on the screen and those forged behind the camera.” We will miss loving (and cringing) at how these characters love (and hurt) each other.
This time around, the show will serve as the salve to HBO’s stressful summer, which featured back-to-back scheduling of House of the Dragon and Industry. While those shows shock and awe with incest and drug use, Somebody Somewhere is appropriately returning just in time for sweater weather on October 27. The teaser includes both a queer Thanksgiving and Jeff Hiller running up porch stairs holding his butt so poop doesn’t fall out. “Here, I’ll help,” proclaims Everett’s Sam. They’re so back(side).
