It’s the first winner of the night that everybody can get behind. After a season that had us trying to find an appropriate place to wear a robe, The Traitors wins Outstanding Reality Competition Program, dethroning Drag Race once again. At the Creative Arts Emmys last weekend, Alan Cumming won Outstanding Host for a Reality or Reality Competition Program, ending RuPaul’s eight-win streak and proving voters’ faith. It’s no small feat for a show that’s inspired tartan looks, interpersonal deception, and Taylor Swift fan edits.
Cumming, naturally, thanked Scotland for being a “beautiful co-star” but also recognized one special country for its contribution to the culture. “I also want to thank Holland, because I don’t think we thank Holland enough, because so many of these shows like Traitors were first made up in Holland, so they obviously have something in the water,” he said onstage. “So let’s find it, let’s drink it, and all of America’s problems will be solved.” If only it were that easy, Alan.
